Ibn Al-Khabbaz's book "Alghurrah Al-Makhfiah Fi Sharh Al-Durrah Al-Alfiah" or The Hidden Opening in the Explanation of the Alfiyah, the Durra' is one of the earliest explanations of Yahya Ibnu Mu'ti's Alfiyah Ibnu Mu'ti that deals with the Alfiyah thr ough explanations and demonstrations.

Ibn Al-Khabbaz's explanation is far from being lengthy or redundant, and his distinction stems from being very concise and very careful in the choice of vocabulary.

The writer follows divisions in the explanation of the Alfiyah.

In spite of the undistorting conciseness, Ibn Al-Khabbaz maintains Ibn Mu'ti's vocabulary in his Alfiyah.

He faces a considerable number of criticisms and drawbacks for Alfiyah Ibnu Mu'ti.

These are assembled into various sections: the styles used by Yahya Ibnu Mu'ti, the examples, the meters and rhyme scheme, the organization of the sections, and of the syntactic issues.

This research is not limited to listing the shortcomings.

It also embodies other explanations of the Alfiah such as Ibn Jumma' Al-Musalli's in his book: "Explanation of Alfiyah Ibnu Mu'ti", Al-Neeli's in his book: "Alsafwa Alsafiah Fi Sharh Aldurra Al-Alfiah".

Some of the drawbacks are supportive and others are not.

It includes their views directly cited next to each drawback by Ibn Al-Khabbaz on the Alfiah.

This research has shown the preciseness of Ibn Al-Khabbaz in his criticism and in the strength of the vocabulary he uses for rejection, unlike those of other explanations.

The shortcomings are supported with evidence and justification.

However, these shortcomings are not predominant in the book.

Ibn Al- Khabbaz is fair in some parts of the book where he praises some of its expressions, and is responsive to some shortcomings.
