Abstract EN

This study deals with the image of the Self and the Other in Rumiat Abi Firas Al-Hamadani.

I attempt to reveal the extent to which Al-Hamadani reached in his admiration of himself.

He looked down on family tragedies, injustice of relatives and the many envious people around him.

This made him greatly proud of himself.

He showed his refined personality.

He also showed his ability to manipulate the Other who opposes him and showed him great criticism.

As for the Other who agrees with the poet, such as some friends and a few relatives specially his mother, the poet showed sympathy and wrote gentle poetry about them.

Al-Hamadani was able to show his suffering and his pain.

He also portrayed the image of the Other in various ways; the most important are paradox, symbolism and paradox.

Paradox revealed the conflict between him and the others who oppose him.

Symbolism gave the poet the opportunity to criticize freely without being direct.

As for paradox, this style gave the poet free space to say whatever he likes.

He used it to criticize the behavior of the Other indirectly in a poetic framework
