Erickson considered adolescence as a very important period, because most teenagers face the identity crisis presented in not knowing themselves clearly and it is a mark of development that could lead either to the identity achievement or to its dispersion.

Since ego identity is considered as a the main form of the psychosocial growth in adolescence, it is inseparable from other psychological needs of adolescent and one of these needs is the emotional security that represents an aspect of the positive mental health and its first indicators.

The feeling of emotional security often becomes threatened as a result of the rapid changes in social, political and technological developments that may threaten his identity.

In light of this, there is a need to examine a potential relationship between ego identity formation and the feeling of emotional security among the students of El Oued University.

The study also seeks to know the differences in the feeling of emotional security according to sex variable.
