Abstract EN

The goal of this study is to identify the impact of the enrollment in kindergarten for children for the development of both reading and writing skills to students of the Basic School in Jordan.

The sample of the study is consisted of randomly selected (90) students of the three basic classrooms from school (Basic Umm Habiba) that chosen as the intentional, by (30) students from each classroom of the three classrooms, (15) students who have already enrolled in kindergarten for children and (15) students who have not enrolled in kindergarten for children.

The researcher developed a test for the performance of reading and another for the written test.

Using the (t-test) for independent samples that the results showed no statistically significant mean differences at the level (α=0.05) between the mean of students who were enrolled in kindergartens for children and who were not enrolled in kindergartens for children in both reading and writing skills for the three grades.

The study recommends training kindergarten teachers, and raising their awareness on the demands of the first grade, to help on the student’s preparation for school enrolment.
