Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating the effect of guided discovery teaching on creative thinking and some basic skills of swimming for 5-6 years old children.

The sample consisted of (36) children.

They were divided into two groups; experimental and control.

The experimental group (18 children) was taught using the guided discovery style and the control group (18 children) was taught by the traditional method.

Each group learned in a 60-minute class three times a week ،for period of (6) weeks.

The results revealed that the guided discovery style contributed to the improvement of creative thinking and some of the basic skills of swimming in (5-6) year’s old children ،compared with the traditional method of teaching.

And the highest percentage of improvement was in dog style swimming test 93.1% ،Based on the findings of the study the researchers recommended using guided discovery style to improve the creative thinking and the basic skills in various sports for children.
