Abstract EN

This study aimed to assay of F-actin antibodies in the serum of Syrian cryptogenic hepatitis patients, and to evaluate the diagnostic role of these auto antibodies in autoimmune hepatitis in those patients.

Our study involved controls group (25 controls; 18 chronic hepatitis patients, one patient with drug-induced hepatitis, one patient with alcoholic hepatitis, 5 normal subjects).

And patients group (37 cryptogenic hepatitis patients).

Serum of control group and patients group were analyzed for auto antibodies of autoimmune hepatitis, using Enzyme linked immunoadsorbent assay (ELISA) and indirect immunofluorescence assay (IIF) .Autoimmune hepatitis type-1 was diagnosed in 32 cryptogenic hepatitis patients.

The F-actin antibodies (IIF) were detected in 21 patients of 32 autoimmune hepatitis type-1 patients (66%), while F-actin antibodies weren't detected in control group.

The difference was statistically significant (p<0.05).

Our results may support the role of F-actin antibodies as diagnostic immunomarkers for autoimmune hepatitis type-1, in cryptogenic hepatitis patients.
