Rooting and acclimatization of in vitro produced ginger plantlets (Zingiber officinale rosc.)‎

This study aimed to investigate the influence of some factors affecting growth in the rooting and acclimatization phases of tissue cultured ginger.

The tests were conducted in completely randomized design with 10 replicates.

Rooting of in vitro produced shoots of ginger explants was achieved in media with or without NAA, but improvements in rooting characters were observed in auxin-containing media.

Ex vitro survival and growth of micro-propagated ginger plantlets at the weaning stage was enhanced when a potting medium composed of 1 sand: 2 silt was used.

Irrigation of propagules with a nutrient solution containing 0.25–0.75 × MS salts enhanced post weaning growth.

Improved growth was also obtained when propagules were nourished with 100 ml of a solution containing 1 g of urea/L.

Besides, significant increments in growth parameters were gained when 7.5– 10 g of the cold water extracts of argel leaves were added to the potting media
