Affixes have different meanings.

A single affix might have several meanings.

Infact, lexical items do not have absolute reference, but they acquire their meanings from the context.

Therefore, all three kinds of affixes: prefixes, infixes and suffixes, perform numerous referential functions.

Suffixes that are attached to the end of roots, include al-alf and al-noon in duality, al-waw and al-noon in masculine plurals …etc.
