Abstract EN

This paper studies the poeticness of title regarding two textual thresholds: the title itself of the collection of poems Ishraga by the late Sudanese poet Tijani Yusuf Bashir and the collection's opening poem Qatarat.

The aim of the study is to reappraise the poetic speech of the late poet according to a new approach to probe his experience of poetry writing on which a lot of critical studies were carried out.

To achieve the aim of the study, the author shed light on the poeticness of the poet’s diction particularly focusing on the word ‘qatarat’ under two entries: the poeticness of fire and the poeticness of water.

That was followed by looking into the word ‘qatarat’ as was used in the poem whose title is ‘qatarat’.

The author used the descriptive-analytical method and the study’s results are included in the conclusion.
