Abstract EN

The socio-economic problems that the city - dwellers face as well as the socio – economic, cultural and environmental changes that followed modernization, urbanization and globalization in Algeria, affected the family in its structure and function, and reduced the social cohesion of its members as well.

This article focuses mainly on the psycho sociological factors that could explain the phenomenon of psychological and behavioral disorders observed in adolescents.

As such, it emphasizes the devastating consequences that physical or moral parental abuse has on the personality development and behavior of their adolescents.

Many theories and empirical works on the subject have shown that children of violence suffer psychological problems which lead to the distortion of their own view of themselves and others around them.

As well, theories have also proven that, although, abused children have learned how painful and frustrating abuse is, they nevertheless internalize it as an effective tool.
