Abstract EN

The aim of this article is to State that the Hausa and Arabie languages are similar in a great dea! of semantic phenornena.

This has been proved by way of deaüng with a number of semantic issues in Hausa compared vviih those in Arabie, in a effort to explore points of similarity and dissimilarity jjetween them.

It is noteworthy that semantic study in Hausa came very much later than that of Arabie.

It is not unusual to have similarity between the two languages in ail linguistic levels-phonetie level , morphological level, syntaetic level and semantic le4vel, for their close relation, They descended form on linguistic family.

Furthermore, there is a direct contact between them ,wherein the speakers of the two language live in the same place, as it is the case in some areas of Borno State, Nigeria, as well as some parts of Sudan and Saudi Arabia.

The article also affirms that contrasting two languages or more in an art or a phenomenon is a field of knowledge worthy of interest an concern, espeeially our African languages, This will push African researches forward.
