Abstract EN

The negative environmental impacts that accompanied the increasing of the urbanization all over the world ,the nature of the form of the cotemporary cities led unpredicted climatic changes .

And that led to serious thought on the global level on the necessity of maintaining the environment and its resources by adopting the concept of sustainability with its three pillars (economic –social- environmental ) which integrated with each other including achieving the aim of human comfort in his urban environment.

Combining the natural environment within the urban spaces of cities structure can minimize the significant impacts of the urban heat island, as the environmental characteristics which accompanied with success network of urban spaces , that permeate the masses within the urban form of contemporary cities and then can achieve environmental sustainability including works to improve the quality of urban life to reach the urban social sustainability.

The research includes three axises : the first axis deals with the environmental role of the urban space within the environmental sustainability, The second axis : represents the environmental characteristics of the urban space.

The third axis takes Hay Al- Salam residential complex as an example for field study
