Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate the attitudes of Shaqra University Students towards an assessment system based on letter grading, and to assist decision makers in relation to the educative part of the academic institution.

To achieve the objectives of the study scale prepared trends was applied on a random sample of 310 students, Distributed at several colleges; College of Education- Shqra, and College of Pharmacy- Duwadimi, and the College of Science and Humanities- Harimlae, and the College of Computer Science- Shqra, and the College of Applied Medical Sciences- Shqra.

The validity and reliability of the scale has been checked.

The conclusion of the study revealed that the students of Shaqra University attitudes towards the assessment system based on letter grading were positive.

The results of the study revealed the difference of students' attitude towards the assessment system based on letter grading according to the college of the study.

Thus the attitudes of the students of the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences towards this system were less positive than those in other colleges.

Whereas the attitudes of the students of the Faculty of Education were less positive than the students in the Faculty of Science and Humanities, and the attitudes of the students of the Faculty of Science and Humanities are more positive than the students in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Computer Science.

The results of the analysis revealed the presence of statistically significant differences in Shaqra University Students attitudes towards the assessment system based on letter grading attributed to the academic level of the student.

The attitudes of the students in the first semester level are more positive compared to the students in all grade levels.

The researcher recommended carrying out studies which include students’ attitudes towards grading assessment system in many Saudi Universities and compare the results.
