Abstract EN

The present study aimed at identifying the reality of Saudi woman's cun'ent role in Shura Council through her work as part-time advisor as well as the main obstacles against performance and the expectations about her role as a member of Shura Council in the future.

The study adopted the analytical descriptive method besides using the questionnaire and personal interviews tools to gather infomiation.

The study was applied on a sample of part-time female advisors in Shura Council; (12) advisors and (30) teaching staff members at King Abdul Aziz University including males and females.

The research adopted the intentional purposeful sample.

o It is excepted for female members o f Shura Council to get opportunities equivalent to males in making up laws and regulations as well as discussing Saudi woman topics and formulating the proper solutions.

The most significant recommendations included: o Spreading the political awareness in Saudi community through awareness campaigns for men and women in association with media institutions, educational establishments, and all concerned authorities aiming at changing the mental concept about woman through assuring the importance of woman's role socially, politically, and productively.

o Qualifying Saudi woman through education, culture, traming, and providing skills and knowledge in the field o f social rights and preparing political leaders for prosecution field.

o Fonmilating legislations and laws aiming at opening wider fields for woman participation in political field and removing all forms o f discrimination against woman.

The study found severai results while the most significant ones are : o The Saudi woman's current role in Shura Council is an additional role not a basic or effective one.

o The most important advantages of woman's participation in Shura Council are represented in the empowering woman from her entire rights and activating a more role of the council in the Saudi community issues, o The rnost prominent obstacles against woman’s performance to her political role are lack of training courses in the field of leaders’ preparation besides the Saudi community resistance to change.
