Abstract EN

Because of the importance of academic staff at universities, and their prominent role in achieving the aims of the universities , this study aimed at knowing the level of job satisfaction of the members of the teaching staff in the Arab American University in Palestine, it also aims at uncovering the impact of demographic factors (sex factors, experience in the university education, the academic rank, the salary and the type of faculty), at the level of job satisfaction among academic staff in the Arab American University in Palestine.

To achieve this purpose a(90) members of the academic staff were taken out of the total population of the said teaching staff, whose number amounted to( 129) members, which is rate of(70%).

The researcher constructed and developed the research tools.

These included five axes of job satisfaction; which are (the professional development, conditions of work, the salaries, incentives and promotions system, the leadership pattern of the Administration ,and the laws and regulations.) The Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) were used to test the trends of the respondents in the hypotheses adopted by the study The study concluded that the level of job satisfaction with the members of academic staff in the said university, in general, was low; as the arithmetic mean was.

The researcher recommends that The university has to review the regulations and laws and set clear and fair policies in the system of promotions, and The university must review the unified cadre system especially in relation to the financial matters such as salaries
