Abstract EN

The present study seeks to provide a descriptive-analytical presentation for the current situation of traffic safety elements in Tabuk region.

It tries to identify the level of attention given to the traffic awareness by the traffic department in this region.

Moreover, it presents a suggestive promotional program that can contribute on the achievement of traffic safety in KSA in general, and in Tabuk region in particular.

This objective is achieved by collecting primary data through two questionnaires .

The first questionnaire targets all the officials responsible for the traffic department in Tabuk region.

Their count is 189 employees; 19 officers and 170 noncommissioned officers.

The second questionnaire targets 400 vehicles owners inside Tabuk region that includes 123000 vehicle owners according to the records of Tabuk traffic department.

Also, some interviews are made with the specialists working in this field.

The study uses some statistical methods that include frequencies, percentages, averages, standard deviations, T-Test of the current value and Chi-Square test.

The present study offers some findings.

The most important are as follow: There are defects in the factors of traffic safety.

These defects stem from imperfections associated with the road characteristics, poor quality of vehicles and unsuitable periodic maintenance.

Also, the vehicle owners show no commitment to the good traffic behaviors; The officials responsible for the traffic department pay more attention to the dimensions of traffic awareness.

These dimensions include the objectives, means and methods of traffic awareness.

Moreover, such dimensions are represented by the ways used for monitoring the application of traffic awareness means and the indicators that measure the level of utilization of traffic awareness means.

However, the personal notes presented by researchers and the extensive meetings with the officials responsible for traffic in Tabuk region indicate that these aspects are not effectively applied.

Accordingly, the researchers seeks to prepare a promotional program suggested for traffic safety.

This program will effectively apply the dimensions of traffic safety.

Lastly, the study offers some recommendations for the responsible parties, vehicle owners and researchers.

These recommendations are oriented to achieve the traffic safety inside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in general, and in Tabuk region in particular.
