Abstract EN

The Internet is like any other human activity.

People find it pleasant and useful to use.

Therefore, we cannot realize the real danger of internet addiction unless we understand the various aspects cf personal behavior on the Internet.

This s^dy represents a unique application that was designed to examine this phenomenon ٨؛ our Saudi society through using a recognized measure !٨ this regard which is the diagnostic gestionnaire of “Kimberly Young”.

This study is an attempt to analyze and explain this new phenomenon through focsing on three main (gestions: 1.

What is the prevalence of Internet addiction and its associated problems among s؛^di diversity students? 2.

Are there differences between the two sets of high and low use on the scale of internet addiction pertaining to use and problems associated with it? 3.

Are there differences between male and female manifestations and the problems associated with the internet addiction? The study revealed a set of important results related to a high proportion of what might be called Internet addiction among u^versity students that reached 31% of the study sample.

This result is an indicator of an farming rate that is increasing steadily in proportion of Internet users in the Saudi society .

The study also revealed lack آه Mrrelattàn between Young’s scale of the Internet addiction diagnosis and the population of the study in Saudi Arabia.

On the other hand, the study revealed the existence of significant differences between addicts and non- addicts of the Internet in the manifestations of addiction and the problems associated with the presence of statistically significant differences between ™ales and females regarding problem types.
