Following Miller and Modigliani arguments, several studies have attempted to explain the financial behavior of SMEs, but their re-suits are different according to the appropriate context and vari-ables used.

This study aimed to demonstrate the contradictions in the results of the previous studies on the financing structure and the debt structure of SMEs in Algeria.
