يعد العلامة الشيخ سيدي محمد بن عبد الكريم المغيلي من العلماء الأفذاذ الذين استطاعوا أن يحتلوا مكانة عالية في أوساط العلماء و أيضا في الفكر الإسلامي العربي و الإفريقي على حد السواء، من خلال ما ألفه من مؤلفات مست جوانب عديدة من المعارف، التي منها علوم اللغة، علوم التفسير، علم المنطق، الفقه و التصوف ...
و هو ما جعل بالباحثين و الدارسين يهتمون بدراسة و تحقيق مؤلفاته المختلفة المعارف، دون أن نغفل مخطوطاته التي لا زالت مفقودة إلى يومنا هذا، و منها البدر المنير في التفسير على سبيل الذكر لا الحصر.
