Ambivalence et mobilite du "Je" dans l etranger d’Albert Camus

his article shows the «I» subject in L’Etranger of A.

Camus which was characterized by two types of identity: an autonomous one versus a heteronomous one.

In the first, he sustains a free personal will rejecting all social laws with reference to an authentic humanistic conception in a particular relationship to tie up with nature and a great deal of sensitiveness with regard to his own identity as a European.

Whereas, with the other, here, namely «the Arab», the colonized, the «I» subject demonstrates submission and correlates with the law of his colonial community and the oppressive system of values that makes him heteronomous.

Such ambivalence provides the evidence of a changing and an unstable identity that leads and prioritizes the reality principle of enunciation that creates ties between the text, the author and the contextual production.
