Abstract EN

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be unto the Mercy to the worlds, ٠٧٢ Master M^ammad and unto his family and companions.

It is well known that Madina has always been the original source of the studies relating to the Prophet’s biography, as its land has witnessed many of its events and from Madina this knowledge spread to all corners of the world.

It was natural that the Madina historians were most learned about the Prophet’s biography and were thus the authority in it.

The importance of this study lies in illustrating the factors that led to the founding of this discipline in Madina and in observing the efforts of its scholars in collecting and studying the relevant material.

I will be mainly concerned with the first two Islamic centuries as this is the summit period in which the study of the Prophet’s biography became effulgent.
