Abstract EN

The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between teaching competencies and academic achievement among training field course students from their point of view.

To achieve this aim, 35 male and 27 female, of those enrolled in the course of field training were selected to answer the questionnaire.

The questionnaire consisted of 48 items covering six areas: planning, objectives, classroom management, executive of the class, instructional aides and activities and evaluation competence.

The results showed that all areas of teaching competencies came in high level except objective and evaluation which came in a moderate level.

There was no significant difference between males and females in teaching competencies.

A significant correlation between the academic achievement and executive of the class, evaluation and the total of the teaching competencies measurement.

The researcher recommends using the questionnaire as an evaluation tool for the students of field training in the Faculty of Physical Education at the University of Jordan.

The researcher also recommends giving further training to students to raise their competencies in determining educational objectives and diversification of evaluation methods
