Bladder tumors are 3% of human cancers, 90% of these tumors are transitional cell carcinoma, and 75-85% are superficial.

These tumors are treated by endoscopic resection, then a follow-up is required by periodic cystoscopy and urine cytology to detect any recurrence or progression.

But both of these two procedures have some difficulties, so other tests were tried like BTA test.

This study aims to evaluate BTA stat sensitivity as a marker of bladder tumor, and to study the possibility to use it instead of the other follow-up procedures.

The study was carried on 97 patients, 58 of them have bladder superficial tumors.

Every patient was a subject of BTA test, which was positive in 5 of 14 (35.17%) patients with stage Ta, in 36 of 44 patients with stage T1 (81.81%), it was also positive in 17 of 31 (54.84%) patients with low grade tumor, and in 24 of 27 (88.89%) patients with high grade tumors.

The test has a false positivity in 8 of 39 patients without bladder tumor (specificity 79.49%).

In general, BTA test has an acceptable sensitivity for diagnosis and follow-up of bladder tumor, but it is not enough to use it alone instead of the other diagnostic procedures
