Abstract EN

Using the paper of Al-Suwailem (2016), this paper explains the basic concepts that may influence price differential between two types of a commodity and the Shari'ah rule for that.

While the distinction drawn by Al-Al-Suwailem between the necessary and the luxurious part in the same commodity is quite insightful, I have argued that the mathematical derivations and the results emerging from them need to be reconsidered.
