Abstract EN

The current study discusses the factors that formed the critical awareness of Jabra Ibrahim Jabra.

(His study of the English language in England , and his influence by the New Criticism, especially the writings of I.A.

Richards, and Archibald MacLeish).

Another reference is being made to the Palestinian Nakba (Tragedy) (1948), which stimulated his interest of the Arab nation,and the Arab civilization, in general.

The study also discusses the issues which dominated Jabra Ibrahim Jabra (New Criticism, the relationship between criticism and creativity, the task of the literary critic, the impact of environment and culture on the literary criticism, function of poetry, and the importance of the novel in the Arab community).
