Atef Atieh, professor of sociology in the Lebanese University, under the title: “The West and the Other: the Logic of the Intersection of Secularization and Hegemony”.
Professor Atieh approaches the west in its historical becoming beginning with the strife between Christianity and modernism and ending with the mechanisms through which secularity was introduced as a tool to dominate “the other”.

Atef Attieh, professeur de sociologie politique à l’Université Libanaise, a rédigé un article intitulé «l’Occident et l’autre- la logique de l’interférence entre la laïcité et la domination», dans lequel il tente d’aborder l’Occident tout au long de son parcours historique à partir du conflit entre la chrétienté et la modernité jusqu’aux mécanismes dans lesquels la laïcité s’est introduite comme une théorie pour dominer l’autre.
