The Senegalese researcher Doudou Diène wrote an article titled “The Identity Crisis in the Western World” in which he talked about the signs of the identification crisis and belonging in the Western societies and its manifestations in one’s relation with one’s self on one hand and the attitude of one’s self toward the other whether near or far on the other hand.

Diene asks whether the Western world is in danger, than comments that:” This question raises a set of further queries especially regarding the precise definition for each of its three terms: the world, the West, the danger.

In all cases, he calls for not only a reconsideration of the main theme that is to say knowing the collective self in the West, but also questioning the anxious indication of the term danger.

Breaking this primary theme reveals the historical and cultural depth of the principal issue in the question which is the relation of the West with the rest of the world.
