In Jan-Werner Muller’s article titled “The Failure of European Intellectuals”, we will read daring accusations against the European intellectuals of failing in making Europe regain trust in itself.

Such an accusation originated –as the article will unfold- from the concussions that swept across Europe due to the continuous crises.

As it appears in this article, the calls for legitimating European narratives – combined with nostalgia for a golden age of Europeanism – remain faithful to the logic of nineteenth-century of nation building.

In relation to this dilemma, the extremely strenuous question remains: What are the European intellectuals supposed to do about the very complicated reality represented in the absence of faith from a civilized European realm struck by storms from every side.

Thus, this article throws a light on this question and approaches the cause both theoretically and practically in light of the developments that just occurred in the European communities where values have become weak to a noticeable extent though they are the means through which the European civilization can regain trust in itself
