Abstract EN
Despite its unnecessary confinement in the north, the urbanization process in Algeria also concerns recurrently the more remote desert areas of the country.
The space sprinkling of urban units in these vast territories nevertheless obeys certain conditions dictated by factors of the environment often binding (harsh climate, water scarcity ...).
In this context the typical architectural forms of the Saharan environment have appeared and that since antiquity.
The most dominant form is Ksours.
This type of vernacular habitat with a role of thermal regulator is basically an urban model to save.
In the proposed contribution, our main objective is to show the characteristics of this type of habitat that now remains fundamental in desert areas.

En dépit de son confinement excessif au nord du pays, le processus d’urbanisation en Algérie concerne aussi de manière récurrente les régions désertiques les plus éloignées du territoire national.
Le saupoudrage spatial des unités urbaines dans ces vastes territoires obéit néanmoins à certaines conditions dictées par des facteurs du milieu naturel souvent contraignantes (rigueur climatique, rareté de l’eau,…).
Dans ce contexte des formes architecturales typiques du milieu saharien ont fait leur apparition et cela depuis l’antiquité.
La forme la plus dominante est celle des ksours.
Ce type d’habitat vernaculaire ayant un rôle de régulateur thermique constitue en somme un modèle urbanistique à sauvegarder.
Dans la contribution proposée, notre objectif essentiel est de montrer les caractéristiques de ce type d’habitat qui demeure désormais fondamental dans les zones désertiques.
