Abstract EN

This thesis aims at studying the effect of service-learning in teaching national and civil education subject on improving self-efficacy for the tenth grade students in Jordan.

This thesis used the semi-empirical approach.

121 male and female students were chosen intentionally.

The experimental group which was subjected to service-learning strategy consisted of 64 male and female students, while the control group which was subjected to the normal-learning consisted of 57 male and female students.

A tool for measuring self-efficacy in national and civil education subject was prepared to verify its validity and reliability.

In addition, an educational plan was prepared in accordance with the strategy of service-learning.

The study tool was tested before and after applying service-learning on both groups: the experimental and the control group.

Testing the study tool after applying service-learning on both groups has shown a significant statistical difference (α = 0.05) in improving self-efficacy for the students of the primary tenth grade.

This difference is attributed to the service-learning method in favor of the experimental group.

Moreover, the results have shown an effect of statistical significance at (α = 0.05) in improving self-efficacy for the students of the primary tenth grade, which is attributed to the interaction between the method and gender in favor of the female students.

The study recommends implementing the service-learning method in the subject of social studies and adopting the development of self-efficacy of students in order to help its improvement at the early and variant stages of education.
