Abstract EN

The study aimed at exploring the degree of Islamic Education teachers’ use of students’ portfolio in assessing students at the upper basic stage in Jordan.

The study also sought to identify the effect of qualification, training and experience on the use of portfolio as an assessment tool.

The participants of the study consisted of (42) male and female teachers from “Irbid First” educational directorate.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researchers developed a questionnaire comprised of three parts.

The results revealed that the reality of Islamic Education teachers’ use of students’ portfolios was below the required level.

Furthermore, the results showed that time, efforts , different roles and the large number of curriculum activities were the greatest barriers to use students’ portfolios as an assessment tool.

The results also revealed that experience has no effect on the Islamic Education teachers’ use of portfolio in the assessment process.

In light of the results, the researchers suggested several recommendations.
