Abstract EN

The study of watersheds is one of the important geomorphological studies especially in Arid Zones.

Thus, this study aims at identifying the morphometric characteristics of AL-Dinder basin .

The study adopted, the analytic, quantitative and descriptive method .

.For data analysis ,the morphometric analysis to data of Digital Elevations Model (with spatial accuracy of 900 meter –February 2000 ) by using the Geographic Information System.

The study revealed the following results : the large area(56117.85k2) and perimeter (2214.7k) of the basin , this indicated to the large size of drainage ,the hypsometric coefficient indicated that Dinder basin has completed 76.5% of it`s erosion cycle, concerning the drainage net , it’s a higher stream order for the basin (eighth) ,that educe to large area and the number streams in the basin( 13265) , the drainage density was very low (0.62k/k2), this indicates that the land is of high permeability and gentle slope.
