Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying yarmouk university students' most practiced study skills, represented by (both faculties of sciences and fine arts) and their relationships with the variables of specialization, gender and achievement.

The study followed the descriptive analytical approach in an attempt to investigate the most practiced study skills of the study population and its sample of (340) male and female students chosen randomly.

For achieving the aims of the study, the researcher used a questionnaire which included (49) skills representing study skills distributed to seven domains with a five point scale to measure the degree of practice.

The internal consistency coefficient of the items, using (Cronbach Aalpha) was (0.92).The estimate degree on the seven domains was high with an arithmetic mean of (3.58).

The study revealed statistically significant differences (α= 0.05) that could be attributed to the variable of gender in favor to females and differences that could attributed to (specialization) in favor to science majors.

It also revealed the existence of positive relationships between study skills and achievement.

The study recommended the inclusion of the course of study skills in the compulsory requirements of university programs.

It also recommended further studies to deal with sound study habits, test management skills, appropriate study skills for each stage, the preparation of psychometric measures of study skills and their relationships with achievement.
