Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying the effect of using available materials in local environment in art education classes on tenth grade students' achievement.

The population of the study consisted of all tenth grade students at Irbid the First Educational Directorate for the school year (2012-2013) in schools that contain two sections or more of tenth grade.

To achieve the objectives of this study, the study sample was selected using purposeful sampling procedures.

The two divisions were distributed randomly to two groups; experimental and control.

The sample of the study consisted of (40) grade students.

The study was limited to using available materials in the local environment, represented by collage paper, polystyrene cardboard paper and natural wood.

After the post test, data were analyzed, it was found that there is statistically significant differences between experimental and control groups for all skills in achievement of art education achievement, in favor of experimental group.

The researcher suggested that available materials in local environment help students in the teaching and learning process, because they provided hands- on experiences for students.

These materials help the learner to understand and apply art education skills.

In addition, the available materials in the surrounding environment enable the learner to be creative and innovative.
