Abstract EN

The research paper deals with the concept of sophistication in Ibn Ashour’s interpretation.

The paper defines the concept, presents its various limitations, and poses several questions about it.

The study also clarifies the concept’s ambiguity by way of repetition, attempts to find methodological alternatives for the concept, and provides connotative richness without devaluating or degrading the rhetorical superiority of the Quran.

The study discusses several instances considered by Ibn Ashour as examples of sophistication and refutes such instances by rhetorical reasons related to concept and appropriateness.

The paper concludes with some new suggestions as regards the difference of structural patterns and some stories of the Quran.
