Abstract EN

This study handles Al-Fahri's views about topicalization for the Lexical Functional Theory developed by Bresnan as a modification of Chomsky's Generative Grammar Theory.

Al-Fahri relied on the grammarians’ views of topicalization arguing that it could be viewed as an example of dislocation or focalization, and so adding a new category that hadn't been named before.

He considered that topicalization is a development of substitution, thus proving that the deep structure for the standard Arabic sentence consists of a basic order of verbs, subject, and object.

The study summarizes Al-Fahri's views of topicalization which appears quite correct.

Moreover, the Lexical Functional Theory is a development of the original structure, that is the (Verbal Assurance).
