Abstract EN

This study shows the critical works that undertook the literature of al-Tayyib Saleh, especially his masterpiece The Season of Migration to the North.

Our embarking on these critical works illuminated his multi-approaching manner in presentation.

So this study aimed at classifying those works of criticism regarding to the approaches undertaken.

Accordingly, it can be safely said that the formal reading focused attention on the architectural form of the literary text leaving space for receiving the components of the narrative discourse, including characters, setting, and events.

Needless to say, these studies never ignored to point out the subjective side of the literature of al-Tayyib Saleh, and thus were the psychological and social readings.

Furthermore, the comparative reading was not absent in this study, wherein the comparison of al-Tayyib Saleh with Josef Conrad and others revealed the facets of similarities in the formal side or in the civilizing meaning.
