Abstract EN

The short story is a literary arts depicting various events in the society , It had been closely associated with it , turning into A mirror of political and social life in it .

The research aimed to shed light on the short story in the book of Delight by Joseph Ben Meir Ben Zabara to know its objectives as Literary text reflecting the reality of Jewish life , traditions and behavior of its members.

To achieve the objectives of this research, the researcher follow the descriptive method to describes the short story, its themes and types ,relying also on the analytical method to understand the texts of short stories and analyze its characters.

It has been found out in this research that the short story in the book of Delight was a mirror that reflected the Jewish social life , its traditions and customs , It also expressed most Segments of Jewish society and targeted social criticism of some social segments .

Also, the Themes and ideas of short story in the book of Delight inspired by the Arabic literature and other world literature are disclosed .
