Abstract EN

The present study addressed empirically, the main factors affecting unemployment rate in a sample of 9 Arab countries during the period 1990-2010.

The results of the dynamic fixed effect model showed that in the long-run whilst change in GDP plays marginal role in reducing unemployment rate, the reducation in the fertility rate and existence of democratic regime have considerable impact on reducing such unemployment rate.

Furthermore, over time, education, output volatility and rigidity of the labour market appear to have considerable negative impact on unemployment.
