Abstract EN

This research aims to clarify the efficiency of the humanitarian role played by Islamic banks in Kuwait, by investigating the commitment of these banks in applying the social and humanitarian standards.

To reach this goal the research defines the concept of humanitarian role and its relation to social responsibility.

Then it tries to examine the extent to which Kuwaiti Islamic banks play this humanitarian role.

In order to measure that, a questionnaire was designed and handed out to the employees of four selected banks.

One hundred questionnaires were distributed randomly, 63 were approved for the analysis and study purposes.

The research concluded that these banks don’t play any significant humanitarian role in terms of community services and environment, but they play a significant humanitarian role in dealing with their employees and customers.

Therefore, the paper suggested new mechanisms to develop and activate the humanitarian role of these banks.
