Abstract EN

The present study discusses a good number of studies representing different critical approaches dealing with reading Al-Sayyab's poem "Song of Rain".

These approaches spanned a number of various methods: impressionistic, comparative mythological, socio ideological, linguistic stylistic, structural, and post structural.

The study shows the richness of semantic and aesthetic potential embedded in the structure of this poem, and ascribes this multiplicity of interpretation to the nature of poetic symbol and its ability to imply and disseminate meaning, and to the strategy of structuring the poem according to a unifying "image pattern".

The multiplicity of different readers' approaches and the fusion of these readers' horizons with the poem's horizon, moreover, have a significant role in revealing unlimited semantic and aesthetic dimensions in it.
