The global financial crisis has shown that the foundations of the global financial system are reflecting general trends in some countries that dominate this system.

These countries have been able to build a system that primarily serves their own interests.

This system has closer links to the interior working of their economics, as is the case of the USA economy.

The USA economy has a hegemonic position in the global financial system.

The USA financial system and its liberal policies are fundamental to the working of the global financial system.

The major aims of this study are to analyze the hegemonic position of the USA in the global financial system, to highlight its role in reforming the global financial system after the global financial crisis 2008-2009, and to evaluate these reforms on the grounds of the hegemonic stability theory.
