Abstract EN

In the light of transformation to virtual reality, social media platforms are considered key vehicles of communication between institutions and individuals.

Such virtual reality provided a platform for news, conversations, and the chance to share viewpoints without restrictions or geographical barriers.

The key aim of this study is to identify contribution of social media platforms to the security field.

Study handles the subject in terms of current uses, merits and demerits of such platforms and the impact of the same on security given the current rapid changes in economic, social and environmental arenas and the rocketing rates of cross – border crimes.

Subject was also handled in the light of the increasing use of social networking sites by people of different nationalities and ideologies which resulted in a host of risks which should be eliminated to maintain stability within society.

Study summed up with that social media platforms had become the most essential means in the new digital media, with a heavy influence and impact on public opinion.

Study argued that negative use of such platforms adversely impacts security and paves the way for ideological deviation.

Study urged the paramount importance of innovative utilization of such platforms in the security arena in order to maintain security with its various scopes within society
