Abstract EN

This study aims at investigating the concept of the short story in light of cognitive references and the discourse content of the short story that helps in the shaping of the ordinary meaning and the figurative one, and its ability to vary in making discourses feasible in the broad comprehensive meaning of the reference or dialogue concept including the literary and nonliterary, artistic, heritage, historical, religious, mythological as well as contemporary cultural concept which was expressed as inter textually by scholars.

This enables readers to feel it in selected genres of a number of Jordanian short story writers who depended on cognitive patterns of such discourses in order to establish a narrative structure to cope with modern stories of such an art in away the nature of these cognitive references their short stories developed on, ways of implication as well as its discourse, language and different means of expression , through models of Hind Abi AL-Sha'r, Hashem Garaibeh, Yahya Ababneh, Ahmad Al-Zu'bi, Fayez Mahmoud, and Mekhled Barakat.
