English Abstract
This study examines the positive and negative connotations of the animal names used in describing people in the city of Shoback.
It also aims to investigate whether the animal names are used metaphorically to describe males, females, or both.
This study employs the semi-structured interview as a research method.
20 Shobackian people (10 males and 10 females) were interviewed.
It was found that people in the city of Shoback use animal names positively and negatively in describing, and sometimes in addressing, people.
However, negative connotations outnumber positive connotations.
It was also found that Shobackian people use the animal metaphors to describe males only, females only, and both sexes.
However, the animal names used to describe both sexes outnumber the names used to describe males only or females only.
