Is it permissible for my mother to be using my father’s life insurance payout and keeping it ? My father took out life insurance in 1987. He did not know it was haram. I think on the policy it says 60% equity and 40 % property. I am not sure how much my father payed in to the policy and after my father died in 2006 my mother received a payout which was less than my father put in, I think she received £ 40,000. My mother used the £ 25,000 of the money to pay off the mortgage, £ 10,000 for my marriage and she is saving £ 5,000.
