Abstract EN

This study aims to understand Abdulqaher Al-Jerjaani's method in his study ofanastrophe, and toclarify therhetorical purposes he mentioned.

Thestudy seeks to constructa general idea about this, without going into the details, or discussing views.It usesa descriptive approach based on an extrapolation of allpossible structural positions through which Sheikh Abdulqaher referred to this issue.

The study has come up withtwo general findings: First:the rhetorical purposes that he mentionedconcerning foregrounding have a general rhetorical purpose which isforegroundingto draw attention to the foregounded element.

The detailed objectives are warning, causing confession, reprehensive denial, contradiction denial, restriction, relay and assertion, and genderdetermination.

Second: Abdulqaher's study of foregrounding is systematic as it follows a scientific and logical order though its parts which are not totally related to each other.

Accordingly, he bases his study on the idea that rhetoric is based on a specific arrangement of words.
