Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the contribution of the fishing livelihood to achieving food security, rural development and increasing the national income in the Red Sea State.

The study confirmed that fishing profession plays a significant role in reducing the acuteness of poverty in the area through securing food, increasing individual and national income, creating job opportunities and attaining rural development particularly in the coastal area.

The research found out that the development of the Red Sea coastal and marine resources is the most important economical strategies to achieve food security in the State taking into account the decline and deterioration of land productivity in the study area.

The study recommended solving all the problems facing the fisheries sector due to its economical and social importance for the State community.
