English Abstract

Healthcare is an important issue for human life, as any mistake may cause irreparable status.

Increased population must be supported with a better overall health care.

E-Health aims to reduce the errors caused due to misidentifying the patient, therefore, Radio Frequency Identification technology (RFID) has become an appropriate solution in healthcare field to address these problems, by implementing RFID tag as a smart card to improve administrative and productivity at an acceptable economic cost.

All patients admitted to hospitals are given an RFID-card; this card stores a unique patient ID number and some relevant medical information.

This thesis focuses on reducing coexistence problems between RFID and IEEE 802.11b to allow reliable connectivity by using WLAN as an Access Point (AP) aware RFID network at Medium Access Control (MAC) layer.

Results obtained using MATLAB simulations demonstrated that the proposed system improved the quality of received RFID signal and decreased probability of error rate over Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel.

The system has evaluated using IEEE 802.11b with queuing system, that reduce collision probability and response time for tags in order increase the number of RFID tags readable.
