Abstract EN

The study aimed to demonstrate the impact of fish cages culture on the physical and chemical characteristics front, in and beyond the cages also bofor and after pitching the cages of Tigris River water in Wasit province ,at the helm of Kut.

The cages are made of wood by 16 m³ / cage, every one divided into four small cages.

The cages floats by iron drums, painted with inhibitor rust to risistance corrosion.We are used nets made of yarn urinary polyethylene, about 2200 carp Fishes cultured in different densities, the fish fed with 31 % commercial diet by micanical feders.

Some physical and chemical characteristics of river water were measured befor and after pitching the cages for eight months as well as by site, front, in and beyond cages.

The result show that no differences between most of the characteristics such as dissolved oxygen, PH, salinity, BOD5, as well as ionic chlorine, The results show slightly increase in amount of nitrates, organic materials, total dissolved solids, ion ammonium and fluorine wich not reach to the limits of pollution, significant increase in amount of the phosphate, that may be indicate to pollution.

This pollution may be caused with agricultural drainage water.
